Car drives are often oversized due to high requirements. However, most of the time customers only demand medium to low performance from the drive, while high loads are rarely required in customer operation. For this reason, this thesis deals with a disruptive approach to the design of complete drive systems. Statistical customer data enables an empirically based and demand-oriented drive design. A holistic system evaluation is used to assess efficiency, performance, costs, weight and volume.
