Zusammenfassung:
Daniel Gassin began playing piano at age three and received classical tuition (most notably from Gloria Chambers) until the age of 10. Daniel then switched to jazz and received regular tuition for the next six years, primarily from Helen Jowsey. Daniel performs widely in various ensembles, including his own trio. He has played with many of Melbourne's top jazz musicians, including Jamie Oehlers, Alison Wedding, Christophe Genoux, Nick Haywood and David Rex. In 2002-2003 Daniel spent seven months in Paris and performed at a number of venues such as Studio des Islettes, Haynes' Bar, Le Baiser Salé and le Franc Pinot. The European experience had a significant impact on him musically, and this can be heard in his recent compositions. Daniel's musical style is characterised by a strong melodic sense in his improvisation coupled with a solid technique. Aside from the European sound, he cites Herbie Hancock, Bill Evans and Keith Jarrett as his major influences. .
