The 65th Regiment was initially part of 1st Canadian Division in 1915 or Montreal Fusiliers. Later in the war their name was changed to the Mount Royal Rifles, with two battalions, the 69th Battalion and the 150th Carabiniers Mont Royal Battalion of Canadian Infantry. The latter was in 14th Canadian Brigade, 5th Canadian Division, 1917-1918. The unit was also known as 'Les Fusiliers Mont-Royal'.
